ABOUT DR. CHAD HEINEN

Engineer – Physician – Advocate – Problem Solver

Dr. Chad Heinen brings a unique blend of analytical rigor, clinical experience, and compassionate care to every patient and project he serves.

His journey into medicine began unconventionally. After earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and working with a defense contractor, Dr. Heinen transitioned to the healthcare field, working directly with hospitals and discovering a deeper calling. At age 26—already a father of three—he chose to pursue medical school, driven by a desire to make a direct and meaningful impact on people’s lives.

He earned his M.D. from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, graduating in 1996, and went on to complete his residency at University Hospital in Lafayette, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Heinen spent the next two decades in clinical practice, where his leadership and vision led him to become Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at both Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette and St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. He held those roles from 2009 to 2019, overseeing hospital-based care and physician teams across multiple sites.

Today, Dr. Heinen oversees medical operations for ICE medical detention centers, where he provides care to underserved and migrant populations—work that reflects his deep commitment to service, equity, and the ethical delivery of healthcare.

Through Heinen Medical Consulting, he now brings his extensive clinical, administrative, and consulting experience to individuals and organizations seeking personalized care and strategic healthcare solutions. Whether you’re a patient in need of accessible, expert medical guidance or a healthcare system seeking practical consulting support, Dr. Heinen delivers clear, compassionate, and results-oriented care.
